We're leaving today, +/- 5 hr drive which will be Madi's longest road trip. I've looked up things to do along the way should she have a meltdown. We'll have to stop for gas and diaper changes but I'm anticipating a couple longer stops so she gets some time out of her car seat. The first road trip with a newborn is a little stressful. Where do you draw the line on what to pack? You know how long the trip's supposed to take but who knows how long it will really take. Do you leave at nap time so she sleeps or go after nap time? Can you plan on washing her blankets, bibs and burp cloths or pack enough for the whole time? Wheh, exhausting.
There was a little fun in the planning too. The forecast was originally fairly sunny and warm (since changed to chance of showers but oh well) so we had to make sure all boating necessities were covered. Swim suit? Check. Sun hat? Check. Sun glasses? Check. Sun block? Check.
