If you weren't aware, Dan's been growing his hair out for two years. Why? Because of an organization called St. Baldrick's. St. Baldrick's premise is to raise money to shave your head in solidarity with kids who have cancer. Most of them don't have a choice in how to style their hair, neither do you. St. Baldrick's funds more research toward conquering childhood cancers than any organization other than the federal government. Our friends and family generously contributed over $2,000 for Dan's long curly locks.
Two years ago Dan shaved his head for St. Baldricks and I don't think that at the time he planned on waiting two years for a haircut, but he did. Those of you that have met him in the past year have gotten familiar with a appearance the rest of us aren't. It was a bit of a struggle to put up with the teasing and stereotyping. Last Friday we said goodbye to the long-haired hippie, punk kid. :) Now Dan's sporting a hairstyle like Madi.

In case you were wondering, no, Madi didn't freak out when she saw Daddy without hair. She still recognized him and gave him grins.
