Realized I neglected to update y'all that we're back home. I was discharged Friday about 5p. Blood pressures continued to be awesome - only had one that was /91 - and once the 24-hr urine screen was over the on-call doc reviewed the past BPs and said we were free to go home. Yay! Pretty sure we were on our way to get Madi from Aunt DeeDee less than 20 min later. Not that we were ready to home or anything...
As I was putting things away Friday after getting home I found a hospital bracelet on my dresser, then there was one on the kitchen counter plus the one I was wearing. Realized I've had quite a few hospital admissions with this little guy but none of them have been the real thing yet. I think there've been 5 hospital bracelets, maybe 6.
This latest visit was somewhat of a "trial run." I made a few notes about what to pack/change for the real hospital trip.
gum
nail clippers & file
my regular bed pillow - just grabbed a pillow this past time and wasn't comfy
shorts - a plastic covered mattress retains heat and I was burning up all night
forget the slippers, socks will be just fine
re-evaluate tops for nursing friendly ones
magnets
You might be wondering about magnets. There were several extra lights around the room that couldn't be turned off and they made the room just bright enough to not be able to sleep. I know they're there so nurses can see but I fully plan to block at least one of them so I have one side I can turn to that's darker than the rest of the room. I figure a burp cloth over the light cover with a couple magnets on the corners will do the trick. Can't sleep with anything on my face so a sleep mask isn't an option.
We got a pretty good idea of what food/drinks are in which "nutrition" station so we have that down. Definitely found the cookie lounge! Learned that we'll get a birthday cake on the day we deliver - pretty cool. I get a complimentary massage after delivery. The showers in the post-partum rooms are huge with a bench in the back and a rain shower head plus a handheld one. But most important ........ the couch bed looks Dan sized. Or at least it'll be awful close to long enough. Might have his ankles on the arm rest but definitely better than the little two-seater we had at Women's which he skipped and just slept on the floor.
Now that we have the lay of the land let's not go back for a visit for at least two weeks. No more sneak attacks, let's have the next hospital stay planned!
