Madi 3 years old
Weight: 35.2lbs 85th percentile
Length: 3ft 4in 97th percentile
Shoes: 8
Clothes: 2T/3T
In addition to the above stats I was shocked when they calculated Madi's BMI at the doctor's office. Really? BMI at age 3?? Obesity really is an epidemic.
We have entered the independent stage. "I do it by myself" is commonly heard in our house. Madi can open the door into the house, our bedroom doors, put on shoes that don't tie, put on shorts & panties, find the arm holes in shirts (pulling over her head, not so much), turn on light switches, get into her carseat and strap herself in, pump her legs on the swing and much more I'm forgetting. One thing she wants to do herself but we've had to put the kabosh on is getting water from the fridge dispenser. That has yet to work out without a huge mess.
She knows the ABCs, her colors and most shapes, can hop, skip, jump and run backwards. She can throw a ball and catch it, most of the time. Madi's imagination is alive and well as she'll tell stories that make you go "hmmm."With the addition of Rawley to the family, Madi plays baby doll entirely different than before. Now they cry and need comforted, have dirty diapers, need rocked and burped, etc. It's funny to see what she picks up from us. Food wise she's not as adventurous as before school, darn classmates, but still eats way more variety than most kids we know. Madi loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I'd say 60% of our DVR is filled with Mickey episodes. Dan and I like that show because there aren't any commercials during it - no extra "I gotta have___" with whatever kiddie product was just flashed across the screen. Madi likes to play with my Kindle; really enjoys the puzzle app.
Madi has and can talk about her Chuck Taylor shoes, her go-fast shoes and NanaPapa shoes. We have to be careful when asking her what shoes she wants to wear because sometimes her answer is completely off the wall, doesn't match and then we may or may not have a small battle of wills to determine whether she coordinates or not. We do let her pick out her own clothes from time to time. Madi has an itty bitty waist but long legs and torso so some 2T shirts are belly shirts and that's just not ok with Mom and Dad. We had to retire a couple bathing suits already this season because we couldn't get the straps over her shoulders anymore. Speaking of bathing suits, little plug for SnapMe swimwear, the best invention ever is the bathing suit that snaps in the crotch. For those that are still potty training, a suit you don't have to unroll after they go to the bathroom is ahmahzing. Potty training didn't really "take" until this summer. Madi's still in a diaper during naptime and bedtime.
I know I'm forgetting other "milestones" but the great thing about the blog is I can update the post later!
