Pneumonia update

Had a follow up appointment today and Madi’s oxygen level was in the low 90’s. Higher than 95 is normal and Madi was mostly reading 90 but she hit 93 a couple times. Doctor McManus was very pleased with how much clearer Madi’s chest sounded. The liquid steroid and antibiotic ran out yesterday and doc didn’t see a need to refill those so we’re down to just breathing treatments. We need to continue breathing treatments 3x a day for the next three days and then if we think Madi’s sounding even better than now we can bump down to 2x for 2 days and then 1x for 1 day. Madi got her last vaccine until kindergarten, no more shots! All things considered, she really does well with shots. The pain doesn’t hit until a couple seconds after the needle goes in and then there’s a brief bit of screaming before the injection’s done and we can pick her up. The crying usually stops right away but we get some little whimpers “did you see what they did to me!”

We’ve been thoroughly enjoying this warm weather. I’m covering for a coworker’s maternity leave and have been back in the office every day but as soon as I pick Madi up from daycare we let the dogs out and play in the front yard or hit the Monon for a walk. One afternoon she walked over to the neighbors to check out the reflectors at the end of their driveway. On the way back we had to stop at another neighbors to investigate her wind chimes. Luckily we’re friendly with all of them or it would’ve been a bit awkward to be found in their front yard. It cracked me up to see Madi toddling down our street acting like such a big girl. Even the grumpy guy next door smiled and waved and that’s saying something! His name’s Dick and that completely sums up his personality too.

To finish the previous post here’s how the week ended plus a few things I forgot:
Sunday I woke up with a busted blood vessel in my eye. As the week went on almost the entire white part of my eye turned bright red. If I heard “oh my god, what happened to your eye” once I heard it a million times. And I have to admit it was rather creepy looking. Then my two front tires were low, almost flat, one morning. Didn’t notice before I got in the car but definitely felt the shakes as I went down the street. Successfully made it to the gas station to add air. Pharmacy forgot to flavor Madi’s liquid steroid. She threw it up the first two days we gave it to her. I tried just a little bit to see how bad it was, I mean really, force you to throw up twice?/! It made the back of my throat feel 100x worse than a sour patch kid. I don’t think I could’ve choked down the 7mls we had to give Madi. Thankfully the pharmacy fixed it for us. On the upside, went to visit my new nephew and he’s simply adorable. Samuel’s showing signs of red hair so we’ll have to wait and see if it sticks around.
