Creeper in the night

So, guess who’s turned into a middle of the night party owl? No, not me. I like my sleep.      Little Miss Madi.

Dan heard a noise about 5a which woke him up but he didn’t hear Madi crying or anything so he went back to sleep. We’re assuming the noise was Madi opening her bedroom door and starting her little party. A little while later Dan woke up and heard someone say “hi.” Woh, wide awake! Madi had come into our room and was sitting on the dog bed by Dan’s side of the bed. It took a little bit for his eyes to adjust so he could see her over there; just knew she was in our room. Talk about freaky.

This morning we were finding stuff in the living room and her bedroom that weren’t there last night. A long-sleeve onesie in the living room – so she got into her closet, a living room blanket in her bedroom, fleece cover-up from the kitchen table on her rocking chair, ride-on toys out of their “garage” – she had to have taken several trips back and forth.

“How long was she up playing?”

“What else could she have gotten into?”

I am super happy we have a ranch – no stairs for her to navigate! We talked about putting a lock on her door but I don’t want to scare her if she can’t get out of her room. She’s pretty happy to be able to open and shut doors on her own. Maybe a baby gate at the end of the hallway so she could open her door but not really get anywhere. Who would’ve thought this would be one of our baby proofing discussions. Sure, you consider outlet covers and cabinet locks but this? Not so much. “So, when our daughter gets up in the middle of the night, climbs out of bed and starts roaming the house, what’re we going to do?”

Such an independent little girl. Wonder where she gets it?
